Why everyone is talking about ‘smart technology’

What it means to be an 'empowerpreneur'
Innovative ways to reinvent the rules of the game

Trent Innes-edit

If you want to make it in the business world today, you’ve got to know a thing or two about numbers. And tech.

Luckily for Trent Innes, these are his two favourite things.

Trent is currently the managing director of Xero Australia, a cloud-based accounting software company used by half a million small businesses globally.

As a Certified Practicing Accountant, Trent was passionate about accounting and numbers – which smoothly transitioned into a career centred on technology. Xero has recently formed partnerships with companies such as NAB and Moula as it redirects its focus from just accounting software to the next big thing – big data. Trent became managing director after spending nearly three years at Xero Australia as national sales director.

His love for all things tech has guided him through a career in sales leadership, business analysis, channel development, strategic planning and building cloud businesses. Before moving up the ranks in Xero, Trent was the national sales manager of the Microsoft Business Group in Australia where he managed the ERP and CRM business.

With more than 17 years of experience with accounting and IT industries, Trent believes in the power of advancing businesses through technological solutions – especially as technology continues to rapidly advance.

“Investment in smart technology creates huge benefits for small businesses around Australia,” says Trent.

Trent is focused on educating businesses how to effectively use technology to help them grow and prosper in the digital age.

As one of our Inspiring Rare Birds local Ambassadors for Melbourne, Trent represents the dedication and passion that Rare Birds aspires to instil in its network of entrepreneurs.
