Rare Bird Layne pins her medal to her pec!

It’s an incredible Australia Day when you pick up the paper, read your social posts and see how much abundance is being created through the pride and desire to give a fellow Australian a leg up. It is our nature and in the Australian DNA to give people a fair go. I truly love that women entrepreneurs are embracing the leg up philosophy too.

Kylie Green, nominated Layne Beachley for an Officer in the Order of Australia (AO), the highest award given for contribution to sport in this year’s Australia Day honors. A selfless act of acknowledging a great Australian role model and the greatest surfer Australia has ever celebrated.

‘I’ve always wanted a chest to pin it on, now I’m getting a medal,’ said Beachley, with typically down-to-earth humour. ‘I’ll pin it to my pec.’ – quoted in the article below.

In November , 2014 Layne talked to Rare Birds about her why; and this tells you a lot about her spirit, mission and greatness. Layne is featured as one of “50 Australia’s Influential Women Entrepreneurs”, our book launching 26th February . We couldn’t be prouder of both her and Kylie, whom is also featured.

Discover your why, explore the what, determine your how. We are the architects of the future and we have the power to change the world if only we would get out of our own way.

My mission is to empower women to take ownership of their lives, get out of their own way and take control. That’s what I’m all about.

Discover your why, explore the what, determine your how. We are the architects of the future and we have the power to change the world if only we would get out of our own way. We are the world’s worst enemy; we can be so critical and judgmental; hard on each other and hard on ourselves, I see so much potential and power in women and I want that to shine through. That’s what I really want and it has become my own personal mission.

In terms of success, the direction I’m heading with empowering women and supporting them in their journeys of evolution and awakening, would mean having a positive and influential, tangible effect on people’s lives. We (Aim For The Stars) have just done a strategy in sponsorship and marketing, now we have a much clearer idea of what we have to offer and how much we need; now it’s a matter of asking for it and asking the right people.

You have to experience what you don’t want, to understand what you do. A lot of us are unwilling to put our hands up and open our hearts just in case it doesn’t work out. From the moment I left school and got my first world title, I was on a mission to prove my worth to the world and I was operating and succeeding on nothing but fear. I’m a fear confronter. I’m a lover of fear. It ultimately leads to something really good. It ultimately brings the best out in me.
